Asymmetric multiplayer horror
8 BIT CACHE
Hunters
Prey
We build games where the sides are never even. Three of them, five of you, one building, and a set of rules both halves can read. The horror is not the jump. It is the arithmetic.
What we make
- Uneven by design
- Asymmetry is the whole game, not a mode inside it. Every system is built to be fair without ever being balanced.
- Legible under pressure
- A player should be able to explain, afterwards, exactly why they died. No hidden dice, no rules that only one side can see.
- Tension over shock
- We spend our budget on the four minutes before the encounter. Anyone can slam a door. Earning the silence is the work.
In development
- Format
- 3 Hunters vs 5 Prey
- Engine
- Unreal Engine 5
- Status
- Playable internal build
- Title
- Not announced
Our first title is a multiplayer horror game set in a facility that was emptied in a hurry. Five survivors are looking for a way out. Three hunters are looking for them. Both sides are working from the same floor plan.
It runs, it is networked, and people have played it. That is as much as we are ready to say. The name, the reveal, and the platforms come when the game can speak for itself.
Studio
8 Bit Cache is a small independent studio. A cache is what you leave behind for whoever comes next, and that is roughly how we think about the work: build the thing carefully, leave it somewhere it can be found.
We are not hiring yet. When that changes it will be posted here first.
